For example, when your ultimate is ready in Overwatch, the Ornata will let you know.Īll of the features of the Ornata are great, but the most interesting bit is the new keys and switches. Chroma integration in many current games means that you’ll get some visual cues. As usual, the Razer Synapse software lets you customize the lighting for color and effects, so you can get it looking exactly how you like it. Every gap on the keyboard is filled with light, but it’s softened by the membrane, making it less glaring than a similar effect would be on another keyboard. Razer made a conscious design choice to embrace the idea of backlight bleed, as all the lighting shines through the membrane layer below the keys. There’s a single-color version, and of course the Razer Chroma model, which we reviewed. This is also where you find the unit’s only Razer branding, with a subdued logo centered on its top.Īs you might expect, the Ornata is fully backlit, with two options available. The rest is nicely padded, with a soft, faux-leather cover that is comfortable even in long sessions. Don’t expect the rest to stay with you when you move the keyboard, though. Instead, it attaches using magnets, which are strong enough to hold it in place while the keyboard is flat on the desk. Unlike most attached rests, this one doesn’t clip on with distressingly easy-to-break clips. The whole keyboard has a matte finish, and it lacks any sort of Razer branding on the keyboard itself.Īlso included with the Ornata is a detachable wrist rest. It certainly looks like a Razer product, although it’s a little less glossy than you might expect. They’re half-height, so you can move quickly across its surface. It’s low profile, with keys that look more like chiclets on a laptop than the beefy mechanical keys that gamers are likely used to by now. Overall, I'd say this is my favorite keyboard yet, and I'd definitely recommend it if you don't mind overspending to get a gaming keyboard. At first glance, it’s hard to classify the Ornata. If you don't have the software, you can download it for free online. If you already have a Razer product, then you already have the software installed, in which case the keyboard becomes plug-and-play straight out of the box. It's understandable though why for some it could get annoying when you're sharing a room with someone else. The keystrokes are loud, but this adds to the re sponsiveness. The tactile response of the keyboard is phenomenal. This hand rest doesn't directly attach to the keyboard, but rather simply lays flat against the keyboard however, it has the proper weight and texture to prevent it from moving as you type. It's very comfortable and color matches with the black design of the keyboard. It also comes with a hand rest that extends across the length of the keyboard. If you have a Razer mouse that similarly lights up, then you can match the chroma color changing in perfect synchronization with the mouse's lighting! As a Razer product, it's a part of the Razer Synapse software, so you can configure it's brightness, color, etc. Phenomenal keyboard, and by far my favorite keyboard I've had. Slick, responsive, and the rotating chroma lighting pairs great with Razer's Deathadder chroma mouse.
